Grooming Tips

pomeranianThings that you can do at home to help the grooming process go more smoothly:

1. Crate train – this gets your pet used to being in a cage and it keeps them safe and out of trouble while you are away from home.

2. Leash train – this allows us to walk them outside to go to the bathroom.  If they refuse to go to the bathroom on a leash for you, then chances are they will not do it for us either.

3. Wash sensitive “tickle spots” daily – use a warm, wet washcloth to clean eyes, mouth, ears, feet, toes, nails, and butt.  Correct them if they try to bite you and after a few days, they will not mind these areas being touched.

4. More brushing and less bathing at home – brush and comb several times per week for about fifteen to twenty minutes using a light hand.  Don’t brush hard and don’t pull tangles.  Leave the bathing to us; over-bathing dries out skin and can cause problems for your pet.
