Preventing weight gain in your pet:
Start your puppy on a top quality dry puppy food. Rate the food before you buy. We recommend NOT using the cheaper brands. Medium priced brands, perhaps. Most of the higher priced brands are of good quality. At six to twelve months, switch to a top quality, dry dog food. The higher-priced (quality) dog foods will give your pet better nutrients which keeps them full longer, so they end up eating less. If you consider the fact that your animal is eating less of the higher quality foods, is it really costing you more? Find a high quality dog food that your pet likes, and then DO NOT change. Switching dog food makes for a finicky eater. Feed only the recommended dosage. You can break it up into a couple of feedings per day, but don’t increase the amount per day. Limit treats! They are high in calories with very few nutrients. NO TABLE FOOD! Our food doesn’t have the proper nutrients for a healthy diet for your animal, and even just a little taste can ruin their appetite and then they will not eat their own food. Some negative results from overfeeding and poor diets: - Skin and coat conditions - Problems with eye sight - Diabetes - Heart problems - Breathing problems - Shorter life span - Higher vet bills
Some positive results from a proper diet: - Happy healthy pets that we get to love for many, many years.
